New music.

Saturday, September 9th, 2006

What is more inspiring than listening to your music? Yes I’m talking to you iPod fans out there who may or may not have been listening to the same playlist over and over and ovar again.. That’s what I did at least with my little mini iPod for about a year or so until i got bored with it. I never actually got round to making new playlists, mainly because I believe listening to music should also be a relaxing, inspiring and surprising experience.. okay, and I’m too lazy and easily bored to spend my sundays making playlists. Sorry for the rant here. Let’s start again..

YouTube dedication.

Tuesday, August 22nd, 2006

I never really got into the spending-your-evening-in-front-of-the-pc thing, possibly because I don’t like watching the same screen I’ve been watching all day.. Maybe because I’m quite happy to be surprised by what TV has to offer. It doesn’t really matter either way. What I did want to share is a little observation, which makes perfect sense, come to think about it.. Or does it..

Mobile connectivity vs. face to face interaction.

Are mobile devices really enhancing our social habits?

It’s probably a question that’s been asked many many times before, but to which a good answer is still out in the open. We’ve all seen or maybe even experienced the problems in today’s society, e.g. happy slapping, conversations being interupted to get that call, loud music on the bus or tube, accidentily bumping into people because you’re talking on the phone, ignoring violence on the streets.. the list goes on and on.. And there is no apparent movement in the industry to acknowledge, let alone try and tackle these social changes. On the contrary, every product that’s been released to the market is focussed on preserving the mini-private space where you are not engaging in what’s going on around you at all. Voice calling, mobile TV, portable gaming, iPods, all destined to enable us to ignore everything and everyone around us alltogether. Where has the surprise element gone?

- this blogpost does not contain answers -

MySpace, Friendster, Cyworld, Yahoo 360, Hyves, Hi5, 43People, LinkedIn, Spaces .. the list goes on and on. Then there’s Blogger, Wordpress, Flickr, Flock, Digg, Ohmynews, Current TV, NowPublic etc.. . and the all combining Technorati, Del.icio.us and Wikipedia. Almost forgot the oldies MSN, Skype, AIM, . Pretty daunting if you’re just starting out.

Why should you join? What if you join the wrong group? How many different groups do you join? Where are your friends at? Where are the interesting people at? Where do you put up your blog? How many places do you have for getting messages in the end? How does all this affect your privacy? How does this affect our usage of time? How is my sister - who is everything but tech-savvy - going to get all this and be part of this if it’s going to be as big as we like to believe it is?

Habbo meets MySpace in CyWorld.

via : CyWorld is coming to America. If you are unaware of CyWorld, think of millions of Koreans - and more recently the Chinese too - who are online, on their mobiles or pcs all the time using CyWorld to stay in touch with their friends, peers and like-minded people. Join or create clubs (although I have been unable to sign up at the time of writing) and join the new virtual community.

3G are we missing a step?

Saturday, March 4th, 2006

Think about mobile handsets, how it can be that we all have one and use it to talk and send text messages to anybody and everybody know. How did it get so far? How can it be that in many European countries every person has one or more mobile phones - a penetration rate of 120% is not uncommon. One reason could be because of the technologies relied on their own ubiquity.. This might sound confusing, but think about it.

I heard from this guy, who heard about a girl…

Interesting .. the way we hear about certain things nowadays. It’s like having coffee with your next-door-neighbourette (not that I’ve ever done that, but I can imagine so) discussing every day life. Gossiping about what’s going on in the neighbourhood, you know how it is. One significant difference is that the neighbourhood has expanded a little.. and I don’t actually know my neighbour ..
